Während die Fans ungeduldig auf das neue Studioalbum mit den "Chrome Hearts" und die Sommertournee warten, schiebt Neil Young noch schnell ein weiteres Live-Album dazwischen. Am 18. April erscheint "Coastal: The Soundtrack" bei Reprise Records als Nummer 22 der "Neil Young Performance Serie" auf CD, Vinyl und als Download. Das Album enthält elf Songs aus dem Dokumentarfilm "Coastal", den Youngs Frau Daryl Hannah über die gleichnamige Solo-Tournee an der Westküste der USA im Sommer 2023 gedreht hat. Der Film feierte im vergangenen Jahr auf dem Woodstock Film Festival Premiere und läuft seitdem in ausgewählten Kinos. Eine Veröffentlichung auf DVD/Blu-ray oder als Stream auf Youngs Website ist ebenfalls geplant. Mit einer Solo-Elektro-Version von "Vampire Blues" hat Neil Young einen Song vorab online gestellt (Video links). Vier der elf Songs sind bereits auf dem 2024 erschienenen Album "Before + After" zu finden, das ebenfalls Live-Aufnahmen der damaligen Costal-Tour enthält. Dafür hatte Neil Young ausnahmslos akustische Songs ausgewählt, Publikumsgeräusche sowie Applaus aus den Aufnahmen herausgefiltert und die Stücke ohne Pause ineinander übergehen lassen. While fans are impatiently waiting for the new studio album with the "Chrome Hearts" and the summer tour, Neil Young is quickly adding another live album in between. On April 18th, "Coastal: The Soundtrack" will be released by Reprise Records as number 22 of the "Neil Young Performance Series" on CD, vinyl and as a download. The album contains eleven songs from the documentary "Coastal", which Young's wife Daryl Hannah filmed about the solo tour of the same name on the West Coast of the USA in the summer of 2023. The film premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival last year and has been playing in select theaters ever since. A release on DVD/Blu-ray or as a stream on Young's website is also planned. Neil Young has released a song online in advance with a solo electro version of “Vampire Blues” (video on the left). Four of the eleven songs can already be found on the album “Before + After”, released in 2024, which also contains live recordings from the Costal tour at the time. For this purpose, Neil Young chose exclusively acoustic songs, filtered out audience noises and applause from the recordings and allowed the pieces to flow into one another without a break.
